MM2 Modern Dance and the SHARP Dance Company at Upper Gwynedd Township Summer Breeze Concert Series

June 11, 2010 - PRLog -- On Wednesday, June 30, 2010 at 7:00 pm, Upper Gwynedd Township's Summer Breeze Concert Series will be presenting a very special evening of dance at the DeBarth Amphitheatre, Parkside Place, North Wales, PA. Featured will be two Philadelphia based, modern dance companies, MM2 Modern Dance and the SHARP Dance Company. The FREE performance is outdoors and weather permitting with no rain date. Pack a snack, bring a blanket or lawn chair and enjoy a great evening of dance.

MM2 began in 2000 as Music & Motion Dance Productions, a youth based company, which has performed at the Michener museum for the past six years. Now in 2010, under the direction of Steven Weisz, it has evolved as a leader in imaginative movement and creative collaboration for college age dancers as well as post-college dance majors in career transition. MM2 dancers are committed to creating a new body of work each year, in which the dancers themselves create choreography as a group process. This provides an opportunity for dancers to explore the choreographic process as well as to have a chance to present their work to both the professional dance community as well as the public. Their performance will feature excerpts from their new dance work, Emergence, set to premiere in the fall at the Philadelphia Live Arts and Philly Fringe.

SHARP Dance Company translates raw human emotion utilizing contemporary movement to connect the audience through individual interpretation. SHARP is a four year old, modern dance company and its theory of “meaning behind movement” is shown prominently throughout their work. SHARP feels that dance should be more than a performance, it should be an experience. Artistic Director and Choreographer, Diane Sharp-Nachsin was selected as a 2008 New Edge Mix Artist Award Recipient and was commissioned in both 2008 and 2009 to set work on the Mid- Atlantic Ballet. SHARP Dance will be presenting excerpts from their repertory, including Blind Faith, The Journey, Pollution, Slicker and Roller Coaster.
