Dean Grommet of Creation Studio to appear with Antler Art Furniture at art shows around the U.S.

June 14, 2010 - PRLog -- Dean Grommet's Natural-Medium Art and Antler Furniture will be displayed at several showings over the coming year. The first of which is the Summer Art Social presented by the Whitefish Community Foundation and co sponsored by the Iron Horse Foundation and Iron Horse Golf club also in Whitefish Montana.


The Summer Art Social is sure to be an evening that is sure to please every palette. A place where Art, Friends, Food, Music and Wine all come together in a quaint location.  It is being held this year at the Iron Horse Club House. The Proceeds for the show benefit the Whitefish Community Foundation and the Iron Horse Foundation Charitable gift fund. Culinary creations by the Iron Horse chef Rob Waltz will be served along with a selection of fine wine and music by the Montana Midnight Quartet.

The art of Dean Grommet is an expression of his times of the wilds of the world, some of which are now fading memories of a passing age.

His life experiences span six continents and more than three decades of travel in the pursuit of a passion to "drink the wild air". The young embers of this passion were originally stirred to life five decades ago while tramping the creeks and forests of Kentucky as a child, observing artifacts of primitive man, pursuing game, and generally seeking the raw edge of wilderness that is left to man.

Eschewing many conventional artistic mediums, Dean turns appreciatively to nature's own elements of stone, wood, and bone among others. These he uses to create works that share the wild river of memory and experience flowing from his heart through his hands. He invests a pedigree of natural authenticity in his work that is only the result of diligent cultivation of a natural art....an art that is an anachronism in these modern times, and the results of which are strikingly iconic of times long past.

Deeply stirring impressions of nature's raw boldness, and clever subtleties, is the prize won by those who possess one of Dean's works. More than mere art for the eye, they are an art that can also be experienced viscerally through touch.

Having chosen natural history as his theme, and nature's resources as his medium, each of Dean's creations is a story-telling that harkens the mind's eye to a bygone age when hearts were solid and wild, experiences abundantly vibrant, and life unconstrained by the bonds of civilization...




Artist Dean Grommet grew up tramping the creeks and forests of Kentucky collecting artifacts of primitive man and pursuing wild game. These childhood endeavors fueled a lifelong passion for adventure and exploration with travels to six continents over the last three decades.  Dean’s love of natural history and native cultures is reflected in his craft.  Using a mixture of nature’s media including antlers, stone, wood, and leather, Dean creates functional works of art that echo the wild places of the world.  Casually elegant, Dean’s pieces are often a study in contrasts-rough and smooth textures, simple and intricate designs, and organic and inorganic materials combine to create thoughtful transformations of nature as art.
