Minnesota Minority-Ethnic Poltical Caucus to hold meeting Saturday 6/26/10

Minneapolis, Minnesota suffers the largest employment gap among Blacks in the top US cities. Our elected officials have been in hiding, choosing not to address the issues that concern the minority-ethnic population of Minnesota.

June 22, 2010 - PRLog -- The “invisibility powers” of our current elected officials and State offices funded to address issues (Council on Black Minnesotans), we must pull together as a community to possibly re-start the “Incumbent Removal Machine” whose motto is, “We put you there, we can vote you out!” Minnesota needs elected officials who don’t just come out to the “hood” in an election year.

On Saturday, June 26, 2010 – from 10 a.m. to 12-noon, the Minnesota Minority-Ethnic Political Caucus invites community members to have open and clear discussions about local political issues. This is a non-partisan event and we invite all and any candidates running for office attend this community meeting.

At these meetings we have a flowing agenda, which means that anyone can bring up a topic that needs to be addressed.

The meeting/forum will be held at Sunnyside Restaurant located at 1825 Glenwood Avenue North, Minneapolis, Minnesota 55405 – phone: (612) 374-5914. http://elitecateringmn.com/

In this meeting we will discuss the recent increase in homicides in Minneapolis and attempt to come up with recommendations to be passed along to local non-profit agencies that have been funded to address these issues. We will discuss local political races: The Minneapolis Public School Board; Senate; Congress, Minnesota Governor’s race and give our thoughts and opinions about the current state of the minority-ethnic community in relation to the political process in Minnesota.

Participants are invited to support Black business by joining us and buying breakfast at Sunnyside Restaurant in north Minneapolis (on the corners of Glenwood and Morgan). By supporting small business in north Minneapolis helps build a better future.

The meeting will start promptly at 10 a.m. and go until 12-noon.

About the Minnesota Minority-Ethnic Political Caucus:
The MMEPC is an ad-hoc group of community members that come together once a month to discuss local politics in the minority-ethnic community. Are goal is to deliver factual information on candidates and political races while providing voter education in the community. The MMEPC is a non-partisan political movement that will not endorse a single candidate but at the request of community members, attempt to invite candidates to the table for an open discussion about their platforms and what they would do to build capacity for the minority-ethnic community in Minnesota (this includes rural Minnesota), which in some areas has the highest unemployment rates, foreclosure issues, homelessness, HIV/AIDS, lack of educational opportunities; with no economic stimulus to create wealth and independence.
