June 22, 2010 - PRLog -- In it’s continuing effort to offer services to those in need during the economic recovery, the Las Vegas Urban League (LVUL) today announced a new community partnership that will provide dental and medical care for low-income residents in Southern Nevada. LVUL has teamed up with Star Smiles Medical Group to offer quality and affordable medical and dental program services at the Star Smiles Medical Group Facility. The announcement took place during a ribbon-cutting ceremony witnessed by elected officials and community leaders at the new facility located at 6440 West Flamingo.

The program is the result of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) agreement between LVUL, an affiliate of the National Urban League and Star Smiles Medical Group of Las Vegas. Under the agreement, LVUL refers families participating in their Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program to the Smiles Group where they receive high-quality dental care and general medical care. Since the program was implemented in May 2010, LVUL has referred more than 94 families to the new facility.

"This health and community partnership will benefit all Urban League families that are in need of health and dental services,” said Morse Arberry, Jr., LVUL CEO and President. “Due to the economy, families are hurting and simply can’t afford basic services. With this program, families will be able to get quality medical attention at affordable rates.”

Beginning June 1, LVUL brought other departments within the Urban League into the referral program and estimate 2,000 to 3,000 client referrals annually to the Smiles Medical Group Facility.
