On Woodrow Wilson Plaza on July 15th76 Degrees West Band is a Jazz/Funk band that has been lighting up stages across the U.S. since 2001 and showcases exceptionally gifted musicians, songwriting and vocal talent from some of the top names in the independent music industry.
76 Degrees West Band crosses multiple genres of music and its members have all played with numerous other National and International Recording Artists. 76 Degrees West Band’s debut project (2008) climbed up the Billboard and Smooth Jazz charts with their infectious cover of “School Boy Crush”. In February 2010, the band was nominated for the Washington Area Music Association (WAMA) in two categories: Urban Contemporary Duo/Group and Urban Contemporary Recording. Fall 2009, 76 Degrees West Band played the Capital Jazz Super Cruise in the Bahamas (http://www.capitaljazz.com/ the 2009 Soul Tracks Readers' Choice Awards nominees in two categories: Best Group and Best New Artist. Live! On Woodrow Wilson Plaza continues every weekday until September 24th, when it concludes with a special 5:00 p.m. performance by the Godfather of Go-Go, Mr. Chuck Brown. The free series opened with a kick-off performance by the O’Jays on Wednesday, June 9th. All of the free concerts are played at the Woodrow Wilson Plaza at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center, 1300 Pennsylvania Avenue NW, Washington, D.C., from 12 noon – 1:30pm June through September.
