Follow on Google News | Interesting Memories : A Miracle From 1968Neither miracles nor memories stop working. Here is an interesting miracle from December 24, 1968 which happened in Cambridge, Massachussetts.
By: Askin Ozcan I know, on the Christmas eve, Idler was closed. In despite of this, the voice in my head was insisting : "Go to Idler" a mere fifteen minutes walk from my apartment. I was alone anyway and thought it would be a nice walk on the snowy streets. I passed as usual, through the garden of the Harvard University, then to Harvard Square and a hundred yard below was Idler. I was the only one on the streets. When I arrived at Idler, I saw the notice on its door : "We are closed on the Christmas Eve." I knew that, but still had come listening to the voice in my head. I turned back to go home. Whom do I see? Anne, a Finnish girl with whom we were good friends, but had broken off, for some reason. I was very surprised to see her. "Is the pub closed?" she asked. "Yes" I answered. "Actually I knew it was closed" I added. "It was stupid of me to come today. I heard a voice in my head telling me to come." I murmured. "Me too" Anne said. "I knew it was closed today." Then she extended me her hand saying we should be friends again on the Christmas day. We shook hands. She invited me to a Christmas party a few hundred yards away. She said, it was in the house where her best friend, a Finnish girl, worked as au-pair. We went there together. It was the house of a Professor of Architecture who had just come from Scotland to Harvard University. He and his lady, a prominent painter, seemed pleased with our presence on the Christmas day, as they had just arrived in Cambridge and did not have any friends there. I had studied three years of architecture at METU (ODTU) in Ankara, Turkey. In Cambridge, I was working as the V.P. of CTRC - a new products company researching on a nicotine free cigarette and as the translator for a Turkish chemist who had patents on this subject. We had an interesting discussion on architecture, on painting, on our future plans. I couldn't think of a more interesting miracle on a Christmas day. ---- Askin Ozcan is the author of "SMALL MIRACLES" - ISBN 1598001000 (Outskirts Press) in which he relates thirty most interesting miracles from his own life in different countries. http://www.outskirtspress.com/ ---- http://www.prlog.org/ ---- For other books by Askin Ozcan in different genres: http://www.prlog.org/ ---- Askin Ozcan's web-page: www.xlibris.com/ ALL THE BOOKS BY ASKIN OZCAN ARE AVAILABLE UNDER HIS NAME , AT 200 INTERNET BOOKSHOPS GLOBALLY, INCLUDING www.amazon.com , www.bn.com , www.adlibris.com, www.ibs.it, www.infibeam.com , www.flipkart.com , www.fishpond.com.au , www.loot.co.za and also via 25.000 bookstores by giving the books' ISBN. ---- "SMALL MIRACLES" has been contracted for publication in India also, by Prakash Books.
