July 7, 2010 - PRLog -- 50 Miles of FUTS Dedication Ceremony Kicks Off This Saturday

Flagstaff, Ariz. --- Since 1988, the Flagstaff Urban Trails System (FUTS) has grown and has now surpassed 50 miles of trail. During that time, the FUTS has had and continues to have an integral impact on the small mountain community of Flagstaff, Arizona. So much of an impact, that a large celebration is set for this Saturday at the Flagstaff Visitor Center in honor of the wondrous trail system.
Flagstaff Mayor Sara Presler and Vice Mayor Celia Barotz will trigger the event at 9:30 am by unveiling the milepost at the spot of the 50th mile, while recognizing everyone who has been involved with making the FUTS what it is today. With live music, delicious food, and free FUTS merchandise, the Flagstaff community will get to celebrate something that means so much to them.
Whether they know it or not, the Flagstaff Urban Trails System plays a key role in the lives of Flagstaff citizens every day. Not only does the FUTS let residents enjoy a plethora of outdoor activities, but it also allows them a great transportation alternative.  Without wasting money on gas, the people of Flagstaff can simply ride or walk to work or school by utilizing the variety of routes on the FUTS. As anyone can see, the FUTS is not the only thing growing in Flagstaff. The opportunities to take part in outdoor activities and better transportation options are growing along with it. To honor the Flagstaff Urban Trails System, you can join us 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 10th at the Visitor Center. Please visit http://www.flagstaff.az.gov/futs for more information.
