Popular Children’s Performer Creates A Family Music-Making Contest

July 8, 2010 - PRLog -- If you are trying to beat the heat and stay close to home this summer, you may want to make some music and enter a contest designed by a popular children’s performer, DARIA.   It’s called the My Family Makes Music Contest and dozens of prizes include a real dulcimer, a shekere from Ghana and lots of cd’s, t-shirt and “make-your-own” maracas kits. “One bright side of a difficult economy is that many families are reverting to homegrown fun and creating their own, games, crafts and activities.” says Daria who has seen a rising interest in her website and her interactive style of music.  “Although everyone agrees that music is enriching and great for childrens’ minds and bodies; people are really discovering how music can also be a bonding experience, bringing all ages together and making some lasting and lovely family memories.”

With 5 cd releases to her credit, Daria has earned a variety of parenting, educational and multicultural honors, including one NAPPA award, one Children’s Music Web “Best New Artist” Award and two Parent’s Choice Awards for her unique children’s music cd’s. “I have a dream job” says DARIA.  “I get to travel around the world, share world cultures, celebrate diversity and sing for people who love their children.” The only think Daria would like to add to her “to do” list, is helping to find a way to support some of the communities she visits, many of which deal with crushing economic conditions such as the San Juan de Miraflores barrio in Lima, Peru, inner city schools in Philadelphia and several of the Native American reservations where she actively does culture exchanges.
