5-Time Story Slam Winner Bill Ratner Returns To The Moth with an "On A Dime" Tale in LA July 14

“I looked up the meaning of ‘On a Dime’ and found examples like ‘my polo pony can stop on a dime,’ or ‘my father’s opinions could turn on a dime,’ and this reminded me of a guy I used to work for,” comments five-time The Moth Story Slam winner Bill Ratner about his next narrative for The Moth Story Slam Wednesday, July 13, 2010, at Busby’s East, 5364 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles, CA at 7:30 pm.   Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for mingling.  Ratner, together with a group of other storytellers, will toss his name in a hat and wait to be called to tell five-minute true tales based on the evening’s theme, “on a dime”.  The stories, told from a nightclub stage without notes or manuscripts, are intended to amuse, inspire, and mesmerize.

Ratner, aside from being a professional speaker, storyteller, and five-time Moth Story Slam winner, is also one of America’s most recognized and versatile voices.  His soothing delivery, inimitable charm, and wry humor created a huge following of fans who remember his Flint character in GI Joe, Family Guy, and Robot Chicken.  Currently, he is the voice for numerous movie trailers, TV networks, and affiliate stations around the U.S.  His short stories and essays are published in Pleiades: A Journal of New Writing, Cheng Kung Literary, Southern Anthology, Papier Mache, Nightblade, Spork, Marquee, and Coast Magazine.  Ratner is a member of the National Storytelling Network.  He lives in Los Angeles, CA, and owns three bicycles in various states of disrepair.  More about Bill Ratner can be found at billratner.com.
