Wabash Valley Transportation Announces Driver Friendly Program for Flatbed Jobs in Indiana

July 23, 2010 - PRLog -- Wabash Valley Transportation, one of the largest flatbed carriers in the Midwest, has announced a new program for flatbed drivers.   Wabash Valley  is best known for being a pioneer in the heavy weight capacity for flatbeds, and has enjoyed over 42 years as a company.   One of the reasons for their continued success has been the willingness to get drivers home on the weekends.

According to Jim Watson, the general manager for Wabash Valley, this new program tailors customer’s needs to those needs of a driver.  “A lot of times we can tailor a job to the driver’s needs.  How does this guy’s needs fit into our customer’s needs?  We can essentially make a job that will work for him, us and for our customer.”

Wabash Valley Transportation (WVT) is no stranger to this concept.  According to Bill Burns, a driver for WVT, “You’re home every weekend.  If you want to stay out past the weekend, they will work with you and let you stay out all you want.  But if you have doctors appointments or family things coming up, Charlies’ (his dispatcher) never had a problem.  You let him know a week before… he works it right in there with you.”  Burns went on to state that in the 9 months he has been working for WVT, there has only been 2 times he has not been home – neither time was the fault of the company and they actually paid for his hotel.

Another veteran driver, Bryce Lindsay, also confirms their ability to get drivers home when they need to be.   “They were able to get me home when I needed to be home.”   He goes on about the work,  “There’s always work.  They are always willing to keep you busy.  If you want to work weekends or want to get home, they’re able to work with you as much as they can.  If you want to go home you can go home.  If you want to work you can work.”
