By: WJ Carrel Media contact: WJ Carrel Los Angeles, CA – “I'm celebrating the summer with storytellers and our Convention audience at The National Storytelling Network Contention Story Slam, and then at some magnificent performances at The Pacific Showcase,” says Bill Ratner. Ratner, a five-time The Moth Story Slam winner, plans to regale an audience at the National Storytelling Network Conference 2010 opening night at The Warner Center Marriott, Woodland Hills, CA, Wednesday, July 28, at 7:30 p.m., with a tale. Ratner will also be featured on Friday, July 30 in the Pacific Story Showcase. This year’s conference storytelling theme is “Many Stories – One World.” “We hope to take you out of your comfort zone and inspire you. We want you to go home energized, exhausted, raving about all the great contacts you made, knowledge you learned, stories you shared, and friends you connected with,” comment the conference producers from the International Story Center in Jonesborough, Tennessee. “By sharing our stories, we remember the living threads that make communities whole. We become vaster, wiser, and more compassionate. Without telling our stories, the land and those who inhabit it become alienated.” Ratner, a Storytelling Network member, created a huge following of fans who remember him as “Flint” in GI Joe, Family Guy, and Robot Chicken. Currently, he is the voice of numerous movie trailers, TV networks, and affiliate stations around the U.S. where he is recognized for his soothing delivery, inimitable charm, and wry humor. His short stories and essays are published in Pleiades: A Journal of New Writing, Cheng Kung Literary, Southern Anthology, Papier Mache, Nightblade, Spork, Marquee, and Coast Magazine. He is the voice of Niteblade.com’ The National Storytelling Network 2010 Conference takes place July 28 through August 1.
