Is USA Network's Newest Show Covert Affairs A Look Into The Real CIA?

USA Network has presented another hit with American television viewers with their newest series – Covert Affairs. From the director of the Bourne series, Doug Liman has created a world with characters that we can all relate to.

Aug. 11, 2010 - PRLog -- Doug Liman(director of the Bourne Series) has created a new show about a new recruit to the CIA named Annie Walker (Piper Perabo). Each week we see Annie as she is sent on missions all over the world as only a “green” agent would. Her world of co-workers friends and family in this show display a typical life for a typical CIA agent.

Obviously, a spy must have an operations director and a staff behind her to not only hand out missions, but also to give her support, direction, information, and protection when she's on assignment. With the back-up characters, Limon has created an appealing number of possibilities for secondary story lines.

Perhaps the two characters with the most interesting sub-plot potential are Annie's supervisor and senior officer in the DPD, Joan Campbell,(Kari Matchett) and her husband Arthur Campbell, (Peter Gallagher) who just happens to be the Director of the National Clandestine Service. Sound reminiscent of the husband and wife spy team in Mr. and Mrs. Smith? It should. That was another of Doug Limon's projects. The Covert Affairs pilot opened to reveal more than a little marital strife between the two, and subsequent episodes have proven that although marital bliss remains possible, the path to achieve it will not be a smooth one!

Bottom line: Covert Affairs is a series you won't want to miss. The show promises to be one of the season's top new series and has the potential to be around a long, long time.
