Aug. 12, 2010 - PRLog -- AUSTIN, Texas,  August 12, 2010 -- Building Turbines, LLC, (Building Turbines) an Austin- Based commercial “Small Wind” Turbine Company, announced today it has signed an Joint Venture agreement (JV) with Platron Manufacturing Inc. (Platron) of Pflugerville, Texas.  Building Turbines and Platron have strategically aligned to manufacture and distribute the innovative, patented BT Urban Turbine™.  The BT Urban Turbine™ is a roof-mounted, proprietary design of a revolutionary Horizontal Axis Wind Turbine (HAWT) that provides On-Site Generation and On-Site Use of Wind Energy.  Companies and Government Agencies exploring Renewable Energy Initiatives choose the BT Urban Turbine™ as a stand alone energy generation solution or couple it with solar units for a dual-source renewable energy solution.  The first production units from Platron are expected in mid August 2010.

Building Turbines president, John Graham, Sr. commented, “We are impressed with the scope and depth of Platron as a Joint Venture partner.  Platron’s history, work ethic and ability for process and cost optimization, will enable us to provide an efficient roof-mounted wind energy source to all of our customers.” Graham stated, “The market seeking a solution of an on-site commercial Urban Wind Turbine has been waiting for a cost-effective design that can fit into a budget and provide a positive impact on the production and consumption of electricity.  We offer a product (BT Urban Turbine) that has an attractive price, performance, or ROI for our clients. Our hope is to make a world wide difference in the drive for renewable and sustainable energy solutions.  This opportunity for our team is exciting and humbling at the same time.”

Building Turbines, through the Platron JV, will now have the ability to scale production to the rapidly increasing demand for the BT Urban Turbine™.   Platron’s ISO registered facility in Pflugerville is a complete one-stop source for CNC machining, raw material acquisition as well as complete Turbine manufacturing and assembly.  In addition, to establishing a leadership position in the Wind Energy Marketplace, the JV partnership between Building Turbines and Platron also has the ability to impact the local economy through the potential of creating more sales, engineering and manufacturing jobs in Austin and Central Texas.

The Platron JV is the first in a series of strategic alliances Building Turbines has set in motion for 2010.  Building Turbines is currently in strategic dialogue with individuals and companies offering the ability to catapult Building Turbines into the Global Marketplace within the next few months.  In addition, purchase requests and location deployment dialogue continue to increase with large Regional Retailers, National Retailers, US Government Departments, local government agencies and multiple commercial real estate developers.

The horizontal design of the BT Urban Turbine is ideal for commercial roof top applications. It is a more effective solution for producing on-site energy. The BT Urban Turbine requires minimal building (rooftop) modifications to install. The system weighs approx. 980 pounds with a 10’ x 25’ footprint. The unit is designed to be virtually maintenance free and the modular design leads to a lower cost of ownership.

BT Urban Turbine is engineered to harness vortex winds from the vertical face of a commercial building. They can be installed on existing rooftops or built into the architectural designs of new buildings. BT Urban Turbine offers:

•Eliminates costs of tower and foundation work
•Produces energy where it can be used or stored
•Constructed using light-weight, material (will not cause damage to roof top)
•Low maintenace

Building Turbines may be easily integrated with solar photovoltaic systems and may share inverter(s) and grid tie-in systems.
