Aug. 16, 2010 - PRLog -- In September of 1965, a lone elderly sannyasi, aged 69 years old, with only Rs 40 in his hand and a trunk of Srimad Bhagavatam books, stepped onto Boston harbor from a cargo ship, the Jaladuta. From there started a twelve year dream journey – a journey from rags to riches, from a lone renunciant to a powerful movement with thousands of followers. By the time His Divine Grace A. C Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada left the planet twelve years later in November 1965, he had, single handedly, built up a world wide movement with 108 temples and over 5000 initiated disciples from the Western world as well as from India. His Bhagavad Gita as It Is has been translated into almost every language of the world and is the most widely read edition of the Gita. His scholarly and authoritative translation and commentary on the Srimad Bhagavatam and Sri Chaitanya Charitamrita as well as his other books on spirituality have been acclaimed by professors of reputed universities of the world. He practically transplanted the ancient Indian culture and tradition into the Western world.

After Srila Prabhupada left the planet, the rot started setting in. Frauds of humungous proportions were committed by the eleven “successors” of Srila Prabhupada. Unsuspecting and gullible devotees were taken on a ride in a mega scam, spreading over several decades. In the moments of confusion prevailing during the time of the passing away of the Founder Acharya of the movement – which is natural with any great organization built up by the endeavors of a great personality – several acts of fraud were perpetrated by the very supposed guardians whom Srila Prabhupada entrusted the movement with. These perpetrations of crimes and frauds in the movement have been excellently captured in the University of Illinois Press publication, Betrayal of the Spirit by Nori Muster and the expose by the investigative journalists John Hubner and Lindsey Gruson, Monkey on a Stick.

Fraud 6: THE INTERNET CAMPAIGN

Further malevolent attempts have been launched with many anonymous blogs and websites with unsubstantiated mud slinging at Madhu Pandit Dasa. The red herrings are another attempt to cover up the “guru” fraud and the subsequent scams in the movement. The strategy to misuse the power of the web to fraudulently launch a malicious libel campaign against Madhu Pandit Dasa for exposing their scam is sure to backfire with time as the truth will prevail.
