Green Efficiency Group Practices What It Preaches

Although Green Efficiency Group is a Green Irene Eco Consultant, offering green home makeovers to consumers, the company’s own green measures consisted of changing a few lightbulbs, recycling and monitoring water usage.  That recently changed when the company became a member of the Green Business Bureau (GBB) – the nation’s leading third-party green business certification program.

“We joined the GBB for a couple reasons,” says Collins.  “First, as a Green Irene Eco Consultant it was important for me to understand the sign-up process and become more familiar with the program, and secondly, I want to practice what I preach and make sure we are being as Green as possible as a business.”

Like other Green Irene Eco Consultants, Green Efficiency Group offers green business certification through the GBB to its customers.  However, it isn’t a requirement that eco consultants be members of the GBB themselves.

“I looked at a few other programs and nothing compared with the total solution offered by Green Business Bureau and their partnership with Green Irene,” Rick Collins, Green Efficiency Group’s Chief Sustainability Officer.  “In other programs it was either too expensive, or it was left up to the customer to track and report all of their progress.  The GBB program provides more support through onsite consultation, a web-based action plan, and a year of “Ask Green Irene” support, and ease of use which I believe will lead to a much higher success rate.”
