Downtown Short Pump Announces "Best of the West" Awards

Aug. 17, 2010 - PRLog -- RICHMOND, VA – DowntownShortPump.com, the Official Guide to Richmond’s West End, announced today the inaugural “Best of the West” Awards, recognizing businesses, vendors, and restaurants in the Far West End as area favorites.

Of the fifteen nomination categories, some highlights include “Best Family Outing,” “Best Bakery or Café,” and “Best Burger.” The purpose of the awards campaign is to underscore that there is more to Short Pump than many Richmonders may realize. “So many people in the Richmond area see Short Pump solely as a place filled with chain stores and horrendous traffic,” said Trevor Dickerson, Editor and Publisher of DowntownShortPump.com. “The goal of the Best of the West is to show that there is actually a community out here, and that there are many more locally-owned establishments than you might think.”

Nominations will be accepted through Sunday, August 22nd, with voting beginning Monday, August 23rd. Although readers are encouraged to focus on locally-owned businesses, nominations for chain restaurants and businesses will also be accepted.
