By: New York Nativity Public Relations Department Brooklyn Jesuit Prep, a Nativity model school, transforms middle school-aged children from low income families by fostering higher academic, emotional, spiritual and moral growth. The Summer Leadership Program is one of the model’s most exciting and constructive components, consisting of a balance between academics and recreational activities. It takes place from July 6th until July 31st 2010, at Fairfield University located in Fairfield, Connecticut. During these 4 weeks, the program assists students by helping them to retain their learning from the previous school year and acquire personal skills for more effective participation in their school communities. The results both counteract negative neighborhood influences and cultivate character development and leadership skills. Additionally, by staying at the Fairfield University campus the students get an early college experience by sleeping in dorms, taking classes in college classrooms and participating in activities on the university’s sports ground. Exposing them to the charms of a magnificent college campus at such a young age stimulates students to continue on the path to a higher education. # # # NY Nativity is a non-profit organization that helps students from low-income families break the cycle of poverty through education. Our non-tuition dependent middle schools provide rigorous programs that prepare students for greater rates of success. End
