Reading Horizons New English Pronunciation Tool for ESL Students

The New Pronunciation Tool Helps English Language Learners Master the Sounds of the English Language

Aug. 30, 2010 - PRLog -- Reading Horizons has created a tool for English Language Learners (ELL) as part of its new Reading Horizons v5 software release. The Pronunciation Tool helps ELL students practice the sounds in the English language.

Reading Horizons developed the Pronunciation Tool in order to better help teachers assist ELL students learn how to visualize and hear how the sounds of the English language should be pronounced. Reading Horizons Pronunciation Tool teaches proper pronunciation using both visual and auditory presentations in order to appeal to students of all learning styles.

Reading Horizons Pronunciation Tool presents live footage of a mouth pronouncing each sound as well as animated cutaways showing proper tongue placement.  To help students improve their pronunciation, students equipped with a microphone can record themselves practicing each sound and compare their pronunciation to that of the narrator’s. Another feature of this tool is animated presentations of how each letter of the alphabet is transcribed.

This tool is replacing Reading Horizons ESL Say tool which did not provide animation of the mouth and tongue while demonstrating language pronunciation.  Reading Horizons has tried to make this tool more user friendly by making it available through flash rather than as a download.  This tool will be available to everyone on Reading Horizons website, as well as a feature on the new Reading Horizons v5 software. This tool can be found at: http://info.readinghorizons.com/pronunciation-tool
