Sept. 14, 2010 - PRLog -- United States and Canada – Award winning filmmaker and Executive Director of World Animal Awareness Society - WA2S.org, Tom McPhee, has had unprecedented access to document life in and around the Gulf of Mexico following the Deepwater Horizon disaster.  Leading the ALL EYES ON THE GULF Expedition, Tom McPhee has gone where news crews were denied access.  He has extensive footage not seen anywhere else and a firsthand story that must be heard.  The Crude Awakening: ALL EYES ON THE GULF is a lecture, a film, and an interactive exploration of this oil spill and is still evolving and will contain up to the moment information during this presentation.

Tom McPhee has begun to share the ALL EYES ON THE GULF Expedition knowledge at various speaking engagements throughout USA and Canada.  All proceeds from these lectures benefit the World Animal Awareness Society – WA2S.org.  Tour dates span from September 21 to November 20.  There are still some openings available on the tour calendar.  Contact us at info@wa2s.org to schedule a lecture at your University, Library, or other event or venue today

About ALL EYES ON THE GULF Expedition (AEOTGE) – Tom McPhee, Executive Director of the World Animal Awareness Society - WA2S.org visited the Gulf shortly after the Deepwater Horizon rig explosion to survey the area, research access through the Unified Command system, and determine the need for further visual data collection as it pertains to the wildlife affected by this oil spill.  After his initial trip Tom created the ALL EYES ON THE GULF Expedition.  The AEOTGE is a scientific expedition to collect visual data of wildlife and the human element, including images of wildlife in the Gulf and interviews with scientists and researchers studying the effects of the oil spill.  WA2S.org provides a non-biased window for the world to view this disaster.  Our team has unique relationships with individuals and organizations in the region, such as NOAA, USFWS, EcoRigs.org, Sea Turtle Restoration Project, On Wings of Care, International Bird Rescue and Research Center,  Audubon Nature Institute, US Coast Guard, Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, independent scientists, and residents in communities along the coast. Our team is filming from not only ground level, but also aerial and underwater.  All of the WA2S.org data, as well as data from partnering organizations and individuals within the local communities, will be posted to an interactive action map here:

About Tom McPhee - Tom McPhee is the Executive Director and Founder of the World Animal Awareness Society - WA2S.org.  He is an award winning producer and director of film, TV, multi-language interactive media, as well as a specialty film/media distributor.   He is the owner of two media companies, Cave Studio and Man Smiling Moving Pictures.   Tom also served as producer and host/character in 2009 for two animal centric TV shows affiliated with The Pet Network of Canada.  Tom traveled to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina to help provide relief to those affected.  While in New Orleans Tom discovered an entire world he had no idea existed--a world most people are not aware of---the world of animal rescue.  This discovery led to him producing and directing the award-winning documentary An American Opera and set Tom on a quest to witness the many ways humans and animals co-exist.  Through the World Animal Awareness Society, Tom scours the nation for stories to film about this relationship.   Tom has experience working in post-disaster environments and responds well with impromptu decision making required in these situations.  He participates in short course Q&A sessions that involve documenting disasters.   Tom recently participated in the relief efforts that occurred shortly after the earthquake in Haiti and is now leading the ALL EYES ON THE GULF Expedition chronicling the effects on Life in the Gulf after the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
