Los Angeles - Bill Ratner, well-known Hollywood voice-over actor, and one of America’s leading narrators of long-form documentary programming for Discover Channel, A & E, History Channel, Travel Channel, the Weather Channel, etc., and also a long-standing member of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG), Actors Equity, and the American Federation of TV & Radio Artists, will teach a class entitled “Narration for the Discovery Channel” to SAG performers on Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at 7:30 pm at the Don La Fontaine Voice-Over Lab at SAG headquarters, 5757 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles, CA  90036. The class is sponsored by the SAG Foundation.

Ratner will discuss, and then practice the art of long-form narration with the participants.   “We’ll explore why this area of voice-over is growing so quickly, how ‘documentary’ narration differs from ‘corporate’ narration, commercial reads, and trailer voice-overs, plus what makes a client want to hire a particular narrator more than once,” comments Ratner.

The Don La Fontaine Voice-Over Lab has a fully-equipped sound studio for actors to audition, or work on their craft.  The conference space hosts workshops and demonstrations led by experts in the field.   More on the lab can be found at
