I. Introduction
This study covers the state of the markets, applications and technologies and the development
from 2009/2010 to 2025 with each year to 2020 and a perspective to 2025.
After UVradiation is commonly used in drinking water- and wastewater treatment applications  also for Water bottlers and the market is fast Increasing with high grow rates
( please see    http://www.hkc22.com/waterdisinfection.html ) and ( http://www.hkc22.com/ultraviolet.html ) UV is used more and more in Food and  Food Processing.
As consumer demand for fresh and fresh like  food products increases, the demand for nonthermal and nonchemical  methods of food processing with UV is fast growing.
UV kills all known pathogenic and food spoilage micro organisms, including bacteria (including Cryptosporidium and Giardia) viruses, yeasts and molds (and their spores). It is a low maintenance, environmentally friendly technology which eliminates the need for chemical treatment for many applications. UV is also a well established disinfection method in high purity applications such as pharmaceutical manufacturing and others.

Using today’s UV systems can be extremely effective at destroying harmful bacteria such as Listeria and E. coli. About 99.99% reductions in E. coli. No chemicals need to be used and the pH of the water is not affected. UV kills micro organisms by penetrating cell membranes and damaging the DNA, making them unable to reproduce and therefore killing them.
The use of UV disinfection can also dramatically reduce water use by processing plants because it can be reused. The reuse of disinfected wastewater in applications such as chillers and cooling towers means that more fresh water can be used in washing and processing.

UV applications in the food, beverage and industries
Direct contact water
CIP (Clean-in-Place) rinse water
Wash/rinse water
Filter disinfection
Packaging & surface disinfection
Air disinfection
Dechlorination and Deozonation
Sugar syrups
Wastewater, Drinking Water, Process water
Water Reuse and Recycling
Finally, stricter regulations over the production, transport, storage, toxicity and handling of chemicals will further benefit chemical-free UV technology. These more stringent regulations have sped up the adoption of UV.

Potential for growth and market developments
While UV  in Food and Food Processing Industry  still occupies a small portion of the multi-billion dollar disinfection industry, it is growing rapidly with a increase of 20 percent per year.
80 percent of the markets are USA and Europe today, but outside these two regions the emerging markets are Africa, South America, and Asia. Key areas are Asia  with China, Japan, Korea,  India, and it is expected that Asia with 30 percent growth will leads some segements. Today there are about 10 leading companies in competition and some hundreds in the markets but more competitions worldwide and new technologies and applications are on the way. The detailed datas and figurs in the study.
