Honda Sponsors Massive Times Square 3-D Launch of the 2011 CR-Z

Sept. 23, 2010 - PRLog -- On Thursday, September 23, 2010, Honda will hold a takeover of Times Square featuring the all-new CR-Z sport hybrid coupe in 3-D technology. The event will span five blocks of Times Square and will be the first-ever 3-D broadcast in a public space.

According to Honda News, Honda will run 3-D CR-Z commercials footage on the Times Square HD Spectacular screen and Sony will provide 3-D Gran Turismo 5 racing simulators.
“This 3-D experience in Times Square uniquely integrates advertising, gaming and music into a single, memorable event,” said Tom Peyton, senior manager of national advertising, American Honda Motor Co., Inc.

Also joining the party, Maxium Magazine will be distributing copies of their 3-D October special issue. Performing at the event sponsored by Honda will be the hip hop trio, N.E.R.D.

Peyton added, “To bring attention to the duality of sport and hybrid that the CR-Z offers, the advertising campaign relies on a bevy of nontraditional elements-like 3-D technology-to get the attention of young, potential CR-Z buyers.”

The event will run from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. EST, with N.E.R.D taking the stage at 12:30 p.m. for people taking their lunch breaks. 3-D glasses will be distributed throughout the five block radius of the event.

The 2011 CR-Z will be available for every attendee to interact with. Giveaways, 3-D photobooths and other on-site activities will take place throughout the day.

Honda says the CR-Z is a sporty hybrid you will be able to save gas money with, not to get confused with the Honda CRX. The CRX was a halo car for the Honda brand, and the CR-Z is the new flagship car for Honda.

To Honda’s credit, the CR-Z hybrid power will keep costs down with 35 city/39 highway miles per gallon. The CR-Z will be powered by a 1.5 liter four-cylinder hybrid engine putting out 112 horsepower and 107 lb-ft of torque. This vehicle will feature a CVT automatic gearbox and six-speed manual transmission.
