ARISE Foundation Partners with the Leadership Training Institute

Sept. 27, 2010 - PRLog -- This training comes as an effort to bring more effective life skills programs to the organization’s community services programming. The training will take place at the LTI headquarters, located at 50 Clinton Street, Suite 607. The seminar will begin at 8:30 a.m. and will run until 4:30 p.m.

The ARISE Life Skills Training is an innovative and evidence-based training program, designed to teach staff working with at-risk youth, how to conduct  lively, interactive, memorable group sessions with the populations they serve . By becoming ARISE Certified Life-Skills Facilitators, staff at all levels will gain confidence in their ability to teach, guide, motivate and mentor at-risk youth to become more aware of the positive choices available to them and to make better decisions.

During this two-day ARISE life skills training and certification course, participants will learn and demonstrate their ability to facilitate group discussions and activities with at-risk youth, by using the ARISE Teaching Formula. Specific skills participants will learn include:

  •  Planning and facilitating a group lesson according to the ARISE Formula.
 •  Clearly introducing the topic.
 •  Generating a list of 5-7 questions designed to get the youth talking about the topic.
 •  Guiding a group discussion about the topic.
 •  Demonstrating good listening skills.
 •  Giving positive feedback to every learner in the group.
 •  Designing and conducting an activity relevant to the lesson topic.
 •  Wrapping up or concluding the lesson to reinforce learning.

Leadership Training Institute (LTI) is a non-profit educational research and operations organization, based in Hempstead, New York. A minority-led, community based agency established in 1968, LTI has a history dedicated to the delivery of services to marginalized individuals, families and communities.
