Selectamobile : Froyo Has Not Been Ruled Out For the Xperia X10 According to Sony Ericsson France

Oct. 1, 2010 - PRLog -- Although the recent leaked 2010 roadmap for the Xperia X10 did not mention Android 2.2 being implemented on the Sony Ericsson X10, news has come to us that this version of the popular operating system is currently in testing - according to Sony Ericsson France's Facebook Page.

There was a some disappointment from Xperia X10 owners when it seemed to be confirmed last month that the Xperia device would not be updated with the latest Android OS version, when other rival products in the market place were already one or two Android versions ahead.

Sony Ericsson has always maintained that it is the User Experience that counts and that although the X10 runs on Android 1.6 with back ported features such as bluetooth file transfer included along with the custom overlay, the X10 still retains a competitive foothold on the marketplace.

However, many Sony Ericsson customers who invested in the Xperia X10, when it began shipping at the end of Q1 this year, believe that their devices should be updated with the latest version of the Android OS, simply because without it, the device is looked upon as outdated when compared to rival devices from other manufacturers and that Sony Ericsson is not giving the customers what they want - a device fully supported software wise.

Not having the latest version of Android does limit the amount of compatible applications available to the Xperia X10 and with the quality and sophistication of Android applications improving and the number of Android applications increasing rapidly, this will be highlighted intensely as time moves on.

The Xperia X10, with it's beautiful 4" screen, 8.0MP Autofocus camera and Timescape and Mediascape overlay, is Sony Ericsson first Android device and it has been successful project for Sony Ericsson.  

However, although another more advanced Xperia device, rumoured to be called the X12 (rumoured to be because of it's 12MP camera) is due to surface early November, X10 owners would like to see their devices kept up to date software wise.
