"The information I’ll be presenting will discuss what makes cancer ‘tick’ at the biochemical level and the diverse ways by which our nutritional habits and other lifestyle factors can impact recovery from cancer treatment, as well as long-term cancer control and prevention,” says Mead.  “I look forward to sharing this and other new findings with our audience and anticipate a lively and informative discussion.”

Mead’s presentation will discuss key, research-based strategies for using nutrition, herbs, and other natural therapies for preventing breast cancer as well as for optimizing health and longevity after a breast cancer diagnosis.  The presentation will focus mainly on nutritional-botanical strategies and innovative therapies for bolstering the body's cancer-fighting power and keeping cancer at bay over the long term.  Mead will also share cutting-edge insights from co-authoring reports recently published in the International Journal of Cancer, Cancer Treatment Reviews, and  Journal of the National Cancer Institute.

The Breast Health Workshop and Spa Day will be held from 8:30am – 1:30pm at 1201 Fayetteville Street in Durham.  This event is free and open to the public and will feature presentations on breast health, mammograms, stress reduction, nutrition, and exercise.  Event highlights include breakfast and lunch, facials, manicures, massages, and door prizes.  For more information, contact LaSonya Little, RN, MSN at (919) 956-4029 or Brenda Henry, BS, at (919) 956-4000 x8120.
