SpiffCam for 64 IP Cameras adds IPv6 Support - Stores up to 400% More on Same Size Drives

SpiffCam is a professional grade application for monitoring and recording up to 64 IP cameras. New compression standard allows up to 400% more recording time. Full support for IPv6 for both cameras and built in web server.

Oct. 11, 2010 - PRLog -- SpiffCam now fully supports IPv6. Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) is the version of the Internet Protocol that is designed to replace the existing Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4).  SpiffCam can view cameras over IPv4 and IPv6 and the built in web server listens on both IPv4 and IPv6.

SpiffCam now supports JPEG XR. JPEG XR (Joint Photographic Experts Group Extended Range) is a new international standard for image coding. JPEG XR offers quality comparable to JPEG 2000 and H.264 while using less CPU and memory resources. JPEG XR format supports higher compression ratios for encoding an image with equivalent quality, and allows for lossless compression. JPEG XR allows SpiffCam to record up to 400% more on the same size drives depending on quality setting.

In installations with large numbers of cameras or those using HD cameras, the ability to record to multiple drives combined with Motion JPEG XR can provide substantial cost savings as opposed to needing a single expensive storage array.

Overview: SpiffCam is a professional grade application for monitoring and recording 1 to 64 IP cameras and Direct Show video sources, including USB cameras. .NET application runs as true 64 bit application on 64 bit versions of Windows, and as a 32 bit application on 32 bit versions of Windows. Fully supports IPv6, can view cameras over IPv4 and IPv6 and built in web server listens on both IPv4 and IPv6. Context sensitive menus and pullout controls maximize screen real estate for viewing cameras. Multi-adaptive motion detection constantly adjusts to changing conditions. Motion detection allows you to detect objects of certain size, and height versus width, not just that something has changed in the image like the shadow of a tree blown by the wind. Email with image attachment available on motion events. SpiffCam supports all known IP cameras that deliver Motion JPEG (MJPEG) streams, with automatic URL detection of most cameras. Supports High Definition cameras up to 1920x1080. Supports any camera that has Direct Show support in Windows, like USB cameras. Axiz PTZ camera support. Recording formats include Motion JPEG and Motion JPEG XR, both can be recorded and played back simultaneously. Record up to 4x more on same size drives. Export all or part of recordings to Windows Video 9 format. Each camera can record to a different drive. Built in web server with SSL encryption and IPv4 and IPv6 support, allows monitoring of up to 64 cameras, four at a time, in a web browser. All cameras monitored by SpiffCam become MJPEG cameras, you can build complex systems with multi-site monitoring. Main display modes for 1, 4, 16 or 64 cameras. Cycle display of 4 or 16 cameras at a time, while continuing to monitor and record any non displayed cameras. Decide when you want a camera to record, you can define how a camera records by the hour for an entire week. Choose no recording, motion based recording, time-lapse recording, or full frame speed recording.
