Current Market Up-Date
With some 80% of Mexico’s exports going to the US, continued weak demand is seen as one of prime factors holding the Mexican economy back as cited by a recent poll of economists from 32 private banks and consultancies in Mexico and abroad. At the same time, this same poll sees Mexico’s gross domestic product growing 4.6 percent this year -- unchanged from the August poll. The economy contracted 6.5 percent in 2009 in response to the vacuum of exports to the United States during that time. Mexican Central Bank Governor Agustin Carstens said earlier this month that Mexico's economy will grow between 4.5 percent and 5.0 percent in 2010. The poll showed inflation forecasts rising to 3.84 percent for 2011, up slightly from 3.82 percent in the previous poll.

In a separate report, the central bank said migrant remittances rose 9.32 percent in August from a year earlier

Perhaps one of the most significant indicators of the Mexican Economy is that as of September 28th according to the Bank of Mexico, the balance of international reserves now stands at an all time record of slightly more than 108 billion US dollars. So far in the first 9 months of 2010, the level of international reserves has increased by about 17.2 billion US dollars.

With numbers like these, it should come as no surprise that Mexican nationals, together with Canadians, are now the primary driving force in the todays’ real estate market in the Puerto Vallarta area. Now if we can all figure out a solution to the US recovery, things could then start to get to be very interesting. Until then, the opportunities continue to present themselves.
