Higher Rankings Spell Better Results For Websites

Building backlinks, which are simply a term for webpages that have a link  pointing to your domain, benefit a webmaster and a website in a a multitude of ways. Whether you have a brand new domain and are ready to start building traffic, or you have an older site that needs a boost in the search engines, building inbound links should definitely be high on your list of priorities.

The most valuable reason to gain backlinks is because they are fuel for SEO. Major search engines use a websites link popularity, the number and quality of links, as a tool to judge the value of the site. Higher value sites are placed high at the SERP (search engine results page). Many internet marketers and AdSense publishers rely heavily of the automatic, highly targeted traffic they get from search engines, and therefore place great importance on developing an ever growing number of quality links.

And as great is this all is, backlinks serve another purpose, they drive traffic directly from the linking site. This generally good traffic, as is search traffic, because it is targeted. As long as you build your backlinks by adding value (rather than spamming), those who follow your link and visit your site should be interested and therefore targeted. Some sites may only provide you a few extra clicks per month while others can send you hundreds or more, but over time it can all add up relatively quickly. An in any case the real point is to get the SEO backlinks, the traffic (at least in my opinion) is just a nice bonus.

Two of the most effective ways to get high quality backlinks that are great for SEO and traffic building are forum commenting and article marketing. These two strategies are used by a great number of successful internet internet marketers and webmasters simply because they work. You can find forums on any niche, therefore targeted your audience and possibly gaining a little relevancy for the links.

And because your can write articles that match the subject of the pages you link to, you can also drive targeted traffic and gain links from relevant content pages, which are the
best kind to get. Look for forums and article hubs that have high PR (PR4+) and a good Alexa ranking (less than 100,000). This will provide the most SEO fuel and traffic.

I choose to look at link building as an ongoing project and not just a one time chore. Adding a few links per day using some of the methods mentioned before is easy and can add great value to your domain over time, help you generate a substantial amount of traffic, and gradual link building looks better in the eyes of the search engines as opposed to a quick boost in links and then no more.
