By: BelTA “The OSCE informed Belarus that it plans to send 40 long-term observers to the country in mid November,” Nikolai Lozovik stated. He added that the OSCE is set to send nearly 400 international observers to Belarus on the election day, December 19. The OSCE observers will study the social and political situation in the country, election legislation and its application, monitor the coverage of the election campaign in mass media and election campaign itself. In accordance with Belarus’ legislation, international observers may attend sessions of election commissions of all levels, meet with presidential candidates and their authorized representatives, and also with representatives of political parties and public associations. Another mission of international observers, the CIS mission, has already received an accreditation certificate from the Central Election Commission and tomorrow, October 20, will begin a long-term observation mission.
