Moon Area School District to use OWL Testing Software

OWL Testing Software announced today that Moon Area School District has selected their Web-based assessment software for online testing.

Oct. 21, 2010 - PRLog -- Moon Area School District has selected OWL Testing Software to assess students’ foreign language capabilities. The district will use OWL’s online assessment software to create, deliver, assess and report on the oral proficiency of their senior-level foreign language students. These assessments will focus on simulated oral proficiency interview-type, also known as SOPI-type, tests.

The district will begin using OWL Testing Software in the second semester of the 2010/2011 school year to assess students in three different languages – German, French, and Spanish. They hope to expand their use of OWL in future semesters to include testing at two levels of learning.

Conchita Euston, World Language Coordinator for Moon Area School District, coordinated the selection process for the district. Connie explains, “We chose OWL Testing Software to help us meet our long-term goal of assessing the proficiency of 200-300 students in three languages. The software makes it easy to develop, deliver and score the assessments. We can’t wait to get started!”

According to OWL Testing Software president and CEO, Chris Dalessandri, “OWL gives users a Web-based platform for electronically capturing, rating and reporting on student’s ability to speak a target language. Moreover, OWL provides our clients a way to build and expand their use of Web-based technology in every aspect of language teaching and learning.” Mr. Dalessandri continues, “I think Moon Area School District found the OWL Community Library particularly appealing. They liked the fact that they could jumpstart their online testing program by leveraging the experience of other OWL users through proven testing items.”

The OWL Community Library is a Web-based community of OWL’s users. It offers customers a continuously expanding reservoir of practice activities, classroom tests, quizzes, and high stakes tests. The library currently offers content in seven different languages -- Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Russian, and Spanish. In addition to the SOPI-type tests, other content and tests assess reading, writing and listening skills.
