Oct. 21, 2010 - PRLog -- The uncomfortable feeling like you have to go, but when you go, you can't.  What am I referring to?  CONSTIPATION.  About 80 percent of people suffer from constipation at least once in their lifetime.  Constipation results when food moves too slowly through the gastrointestinal (GI) tract and becomes a painful experience when you have to finally have a bowel movement.

I have suffered with constipation since I was a child.  I hated when I felt the fullness in my stomach, because that meant in a day or so, I was going to have seat on that toilet seat for half an hour.  It was horrible.

Constipation is considered when you have bowel movements fewer than three times a week over a long period of time.  Some other signs include when the stool is hard, dry or there is excessive straining.  The stool can often be described as “rabbit pellets," these look like the size of marbles in a bunch.  This of course, is NOT healthy!

Everyone should have a bowel movement at least once each day.  Going once a day helps eliminate all foods and toxins through your colon.

Constipation may come from a lack of fiber and water, not enough exercise, aging, and/or poor diet.  PMS and pregnant women may also suffer from constipation, but the most common cause is usually from your diet.

One way that has proven effective in me and others suffering from constipation is the use of PROBIOTICS.  The normal, healthy colon contains “friendly” bacteria found in probiotics.  It’s the friendly bacterial flora found naturally in your digestive system.  When your digestive system lacks these "friendly" bacteria, then you may experience constipation.  Probiotics are taken as a dietary supplement which may help to detoxify and rebuild a balanced intestinal flora.

Probiotics aid the digestion and helps to replace the “friendly” intestinal flora.  This will help you have smooth and frequent bowel movements.  If you are having problems with constipation, you should see your doctor immediately because constipation may result in other unforeseen problems later.

Ways to Relieve Constipation:

Take Probiotics (Try Yefense Natural Probiotics)
Exercise especially walking
Add Fiber in your diet such as whole wheat and green veggies
Eat Fruit and vegetables
Drink Plenty, plenty fluids esp water
Stay away from as much sugar as you can

Two tips I’ve always used from my grandmother was to prop up your feet on a foot stool or telephone books so that your knees are up to your chest.  This allows gravity to help your bowels move and also to breathe deeply instead of straining.
