Down Payment Assistance For First-time Home Buyers

Prince Edward – Lennox & Addington Social Services (PELASS) in conjunction with the Canada-Ontario Affordable Housing Program is offering an exciting home
ownership opportunity.

Down payment assistance may be available for up to 5% of the maximum purchase price of $210,000 for a new or re-sale home.

Residents of the Counties of Lennox & Addington and Prince Edward who are currently in rental accommodation and hoping to purchase a home may qualify for the Home Ownership Program.

The County is currently accepting Home Ownership applications in order to confirm local interest in Home Ownership funding.

Program funding is subject to confirmation.

To qualify, applicant(s) must:
 be Canadian Citizens, Permanent Residents or Refugee Claimants
 be at least 18 years old
 currently live in rental accommodation
 be eligible for mortgage financing from a major financial institution
 have a combined household income at or below the maximum eligible income limit of $69,000
 purchase a home with a maximum house price of $210,000
 contact the Housing Corporation by 4:00 p.m. Friday, October 29, 2010 to confirm their interest in applying for funding and obtain an application form

Eligible applicants will be selected on a first come, first served basis pending availability of funds.
