In response to the recent healthcare reform legislation and the projected growth, ADVANCE has created a powerful combined career and clinical information source for NPs and PAs. Through the years, ADVANCE has built a strong base of NPs and PAs through the ADVANCE for Nurse Practitioners and ADVANCE for Physician Assistants websites. The new healthcare legislation includes a primary care provision that will benefit millions of Americans who are currently uninsured. Primary care physicians are already in short supply, so more nurse practitioners and physician assistants will be in demand to fill the primary care gap, and they will need to work together to meet the needs of the millions of newly insured. The website and monthly journal, launched in September, combined the already strong online communities from ADVANCE for Nurse Practitioners and ADVANCE for Physician Assistants. The mission will be to provide career guidance and peer-reviewed articles to help this loyal audience not only adjust to the healthcare changes, but thrive in the new era of healthcare.
