Nov. 2, 2010 - PRLog -- GPs, practice managers and those involved in the management of medical practices are being invited to attend a special conference that will provide an in-depth view on the government’s white paper - ‘Equity & Excellence: Liberating the NHS’.

Taking place at Leigh Court on 17 November, the conference is being organised by PKF Accountants & business advisers, Veale Wasbrough Vizards lawyers and Royal Bank of Scotland.

Having significant and far reaching consequences for GPs, the event will focus on the key legal, financial and management issues affecting GPs and their practices.

Lead by members of the medical teams from PKF, Veale Wasbrough Vizards and Royal Bank of Scotland, the conference will also cover the implications of the white paper for GPs as primary care providers and as secondary care commissioners, changes in the regulatory environment for healthcare, general economic and tax trends and the impact on GPs.

Tony Stringer, medical services partner at PKF said: “The white paper will have significant and far-reaching implications for GPs who will face changes to their General Medical Services (GMS) and Personal Medical Services (PMS) contracts and will be responsible for commissioning through GP consortia.

“It is also clear that GPs face significant upheaval and increased pressures that will make the next few years difficult and challenging, but may also offer real opportunities to change the way in which healthcare services are delivered in England.

“That is why it’s important that GPs and those involved with the management of practices attend this conference as they will be able to gain vital insights into how this white paper will affect them and help them decide how they will take their practices forward.

“The conference promises to be very informative and we’re looking forward to meeting GPs from right across the South West and hearing their thoughts and experiences.”

As well as Tony others presenting at the conference include Dr Lisa Silver, a GP from Oxfordshire, Tabitha Cave who is head of Veale Wasbrough Vizards’ regulatory team, Steven Edwards, a GP practice manager and Allister Simpson from RBS.

The conference is taking place at Leigh Court in Bristol on 17 November 2010. The morning session is from 8.30am to 12.30pm with the afternoon session taking place from 1.30pm to 5.00pm.

For further information or to book a place on the conference please contact Pat McDougall on 0117 314 5216 or go to www.vwv.co.uk/events. Cost per delegate is £35 inc VAT per session (including lunch) or £60 inc VAT for both sessions.
