By: Jim LaBelle “‘An Olde English Christmas,’ presented in two beautiful church settings, provides a wonderful way to celebrate Christmas,” said Brusubardis. “I invite everyone to experience these exciting live music performances.” Tickets are $15 for adults, $13 for seniors/students, $4 children 11 and under. Tickets are available from all Waukesha Choral Union members, at any Waukesha State Bank location, online at http://www.ChoralUnion.org, or by phone at 414-297-9310. “An Olde English Christmas” is part of the Waukesha Choral Union’s 2010-2011 season of concerts, “Putting Together a Community of Singers.” Upcoming concerts include: “A GIFT TO THE COMMUNITY: HANDEL’S MESSIAH” Sunday, March 27, 2011 3:00 p.m. Shattuck Auditorium, Carroll University Any singer who wishes to participate in Handel’s “Messiah” is welcome to take part in this annual choral event. There will also be a silent auction to benefit the Waukesha Choral Union. “ALL BEETHOVEN CONCERT” Saturday, April 30, 2011 8:00 p.m. Shattuck Auditorium, Carroll University In the “All Beethoven Concert,” Waukesha Choral Union will present excerpts from the “Choral Mass in C,” and the “Choral Fantasy” for piano, orchestra and chorus. “GIVE US PEACE” Saturday, May 21, 2011 7:30 p.m. Oconomowoc Arts Center Kirke Mechem’s “Songs of the Slave,” and Ralph Vaughan Williams’ “Dona nobis pacem,” invite reflection on the Civil War and its legacy. This collaborative concert combines the Waukesha Choral Union with the Bel Canto Chorus, Richard Hynson, music director, and the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Edo de Waart, music director. As the premiere vocal group in the area, the Waukesha Choral Union has been musically active in the community for over 50 years. Originally a combination of the Carroll College student chorus and community singers known as the Waukesha Choral Society in 1949, the group became the Town and Gown in 1961 and the Waukesha Choral Union in 1974, taking its present form as an auditioned choir in 1978.
