Follow on Google News | ![]() Huntswood supports Olympian’s Cross Channel World Record AttemptHuntswood is managing the aim of Paul Wycherley, a London 2012 Olympic hopeful, to kayak across the English Channel - one of the world’s busiest shipping lanes.
By: Huntswood As well as raising money for charity, Paul hopes to break the current world record for crossing the English Channel in a kayak. This has been an ambition of his since he took up the sport when he was 12 years old. The record is currently held by Ian Wynne with a time of 2 hours, 59 minutes and 6 seconds set in October 2007. Huntswood has decided to support Paul in his challenge by underwriting all of his costs. This includes supplying him with a specially designed sea kayak, a Pilot Support Boat, training kit and a personalised website, as well as managing the logistics of the event. David Brownlow, CEO of Huntswood, said “I have known Paul for some time now and when I heard of his record attempt I suggested that Huntswood could help Paul turn this gruelling physical and mental challenge into a major fundraising event for charity”. Paul Wycherley commented “I would not even be able to attempt such an endeavour without the generous support from David and everyone at Huntswood. I am grateful to Huntswood for removing the logistical stresses, allowing me to focus solely on the challenge ahead and raising as much money as possible”. All of this will be completed alongside his training programme for the London 2012 Olympics.
