Helping Paws for the Holidays ~ Santa & Grinch photos for pets & family

Nov. 18, 2010 - PRLog -- Dave Carlson, manager of The Pet Food Shoppe on Route 44 in Lakeville, announces that Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. will be the recipient of the “Helping Paws for the Holidays” fundraiser, which will begin Saturday, Nov. 27 and run through Sunday, Dec. 19. Carlson is confident that the proceeds will vest all 20 Massachusetts police dogs presently awaiting a bullet protective vest.

Santa will be visiting The Pet Food Shoppe on Route 44 in Lakeville, across from Muckey’s Liquors, to welcome all companion animals and their family members. As an added attraction, “The Grinch” will be joining the festivities on weekends and participating in the holiday photos. A holiday photo package will be offered for children, families and their pets each Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Each holiday package includes multiple photos on an 8x10 sheet, an abundantly stuffed pet/person goodie bag and an e-mail of your photo directly to you, which would make a wonderful holiday card for only $20.

Other attractions: Police dog demonstrations scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 27, at 11a.m. and 1 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 4, at 11a.m. and 1 p.m., and Saturday, Dec. 11, at 11a.m. and 1 p.m. Party of Gold will offer competitive rates to turn your unwanted gold into cash Sunday, Dec. 5, and Sunday, Dec.12, from noon to 3 p.m. and Saturday, Dec.18, from 11 a.m. to 2p.m. Pat the giant angora rabbits, Hilliard’s Candy bars and more. Go by and join the festivities!

Vested Interest in K9s, Inc. is a 501c(3) non-profit charitable organization dedicated to providing bullet protective vests to Massachusetts police dogs, including local police departments, county sheriff’s offices, Massachusetts State Police, Transit Police (Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority), US Air Force-Hanscom, and US Coast Guard-Gloucester.  The vests cost an average of $735 each.

Vested Interest in K9s President, Sandy Marcal, who will be photographing the pets, is expecting several ferrets, birds and a pig in addition to the cats and dogs who will come out to meet Santa and the Grinch. Marcal is hoping to provide at least 10 police dogs with bullet protective vests with the proceeds. “We hope that animal lovers in the area will unite to support Vested Interest in K9s. and join in the holiday spirit.”
