KBA Lease Services & Visual Lease to Host FAS Lease Accounting Rountable

Nov. 22, 2010 - PRLog -- Upcoming FASB changes are set to change the way real estate leases are accounted for under generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). To address the topic in detail, KBA Lease Services, Visual Lease  and Grant Thornton will host a CFO Roundtable Discussion.  The event will take place on Thursday, December 2nd, 2010 and will outline ways to better prepare for the shift in practices.  Attendees will include top industry experts and real estate executives in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.  

Topics include “What you need to know about the proposed changes”, “Modified gross leases: A thing of the past?”, “How long is a lease term (once you count the options)?”, “How existing Leases will be treated”, “What you can do to save both resources and money”, “How commenting before 12/15 can save work later.”  Marc Betesh and Lou Ferro, of KBA and Visual Lease, will be joined by Gary Illiano of Grant Thornton in facilitating conversation among attendees.  

The roundtable will include breakfast, and will be held at KBA’s New York City office, located at 1120 Avenue of the Americas.  It will begin at 7:30am.

About the Panelists:

Marc Betesh, founder and president of KBA Lease Services and Visual Lease, introduced lease auditing to the corporate real estate community in 1985.  Mr. Betesh is considered to be one of the country’s leading experts on lease language construction, lease expenses and effective lease negotiation strategies.  

Lou Ferro joined KBA in 1987 and has performed and managed thousands of lease audits for clients nationally. He is considered one of the country’s most experienced and knowledgeable experts on commercial lease escalation clauses.  He is a licensed CPA, and is a member of the New York State Society of CPAs and the American Institute of CPAs.

Gary Illiano is the Partner in Charge of Accounting and Auditing for Grant Thornton LLP. Gary represents the U.S. Firm on the Grant Thornton International IFRS Interpretations Group. He provides consultative services to the U.S. Firm and clients on IFRS matters and GTI member firms on IFRS/U.S. GAAP-related issues.
