The US Army Selects MediaNow and Scala for New Visitor and Education Center

Nov. 22, 2010 - PRLog -- As part of the US Army Heritage and Education Center, the new, 37,000-square foot Visitor and Education Center contains a 7,000-square foot exhibit and interpretive gallery that will present its first exhibit in April 2011. The new system, which will display a variety of messages and historic exhibits throughout the building, features Scala InfoChannel5 digital signage software (http://www.scala.com/), programmed in a two-channel configuration to deliver independent content to 12 Samsung EX Series LED displays that are strategically located to deliver maximum impact.

The system, which resides on Equus player hardware platforms (http://www.equuscs.com/), was built to MediaNow’s specifications. Video is deployed over CAT6 via Magenta Research transmitting and receiving hardware to allow a central hardware location while still delivering perfect imaging to all displays. All of the software and hardware for this system was chosen based on proven reliability, quality, and energy efficiency.

MediaNow’s project manager for this effort, Marty Pisano, reports that this is only Phase One of the Visitor and Education Center, and the new digital signage system will support future expansion in Phase Two.

Established in 2001, the U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center is the United States Army's preeminent museum and research complex. The center also houses the Military History Institute (MHI), the Army Heritage Museum (AHM), and the U.S. Army Conservation Center. Both private and public funds, totaling over $12.5 million, were raised to complete Phase One.
