Fish Adds Momentum To Asbury Park Revitalization As Local & Regional Dining Destination

Nov. 24, 2010 - PRLog -- ASBURY PARK, NJ, November 22, 2010-- The launch of a high quality seafood restaurant, FISH, in one of Asbury Park’s most historical buildings is being seen as fueling revitalization and further establishing the city as a true dining destination. The owners of FISH, husband and wife team of James and Karen DeGilio and well known Executive Chef Michael Haimowitz, believe that the new restaurant features elements that will draw a significant local and regional customer base. Following their “soft-opening” over the last 60 days, they are well on their way.

The 5500 square foot restaurant resides in the former Asbury Park National Bank built in 1885, featuring Romanesque additions made in 1916. The building was also used as Asbury Park’s first Post Office and served as the summer headquarters for President Woodrow Wilson. It’s soaring, 16 foot ceilings, marble columns and oversized, arched windows combine for a spectacular dining environment. The former bank’s "Vault Room" is available as a private dining area with an integrated wine room.

FISH Urban Dining provides a relaxed, yet refined atmosphere ideal for almost any dining occasion. The restaurant's menu offers a wide variety of fresh seafood, seasonal, sustainable and flavorful foods created by Executive Chef Michael Haimowitz, a Culinary Institute of America honors graduate with a background of progressive assignments with some of the region’s finest restaurants. “Our menu is focused on fresh, seasonal and sustainable foods that are prepared and cooked with the goal of establishing an emotional connection with our customers,” added Chef Haimowitz. “The feedback that we have received thus far has truly been outstanding. ”

Imagine starting you dining experience with a bowl of Lobster Bisque with Creme Fraiche & Chives, followed by Homemade Ricotta Dumplings, with Butternut Squash, Sage, Pignoli Nuts, Brown Butter and Pecorino. Butter Basted Barnegat Light Scallops follows, with Roasted Cauliflower & Pancetta Risotto drizzled with Truffle Oil finished with a Creamsicle Creme Brulee w/candied orange zest and a tasty shortbread cookie for dessert. This is all accompanied with a stellar selection of Wines, Ports, Sherries, and Scotches, all expertly prepared and presented.
