Follow on Google News | Newham Council latest to get on board with Bike Dock SolutionsThe London Borough of Newham has become the latest local authority to be supplied with cycle shelters and stands from award-winning cycle parking specialists Bike Dock Solutions.
By: Bike Dock Solutions Newham General Hospital will now benefit from four bike shelters and various stands within its grounds. As well as the hospital, Bike Dock Solutions has also supplied The Place in Canning Town with a bike shelter that has the capacity to accommodate up to 20 bicycles and a new cycle shelter at Waterfront Studios. Cycle Superhighway Route 3 runs through the London Borough of Newham along the A13 and Transport for London have provided Local Authorities with complimentary funding for cycle parking at places of employment along the route as one measure to encourage cycling be providing more secure places for people to lock their bicycles at work. Kristian Turner, Cycling Officer at Newham Council, spoke of the liaison work undertaken by the Council, Bike Dock Solutions, local businesses and cycle user groups “with funding from Transport for London we have increased cycle parking provision by over 100 spaces at key employment centres near the A13. These have been identified and prioritised by the Council and user groups, and Bike Dock Solutions have come in to install the facilities which have been welcomed by users and businesses”. “In the UK, a bicycle is stolen every minute and less than 5% of those are returned to their owners,” explains James Nash, sales director at Bike Dock Solutions’. “Cyclists are more likely to have their bikes stolen than motorcyclists their motorcycle or car owners and cycle theft is the single greatest deterrent to cycle.” Kristian found Bike Dock Solutions “very responsive in terms of liaison” and that using local companies with local knowledge is important.
