Nov. 29, 2010 - PRLog -- Online retailers have been preparing all weekend for the busiest online purchasing day of the year. £530million will be spent today on DVD’s, electrical items, gadgets and other Christmas presents.

What has been dubbed Manic Monday will see over £22million per hour processed by online shopping checkouts alone. This is an increase of 33% on last years figure. This is probably because shoppers are looking for bargains now more than ever and with the VAT increase just around the corner; smart shoppers are spending a bit extra now to save a lot more in the long run.

When savvy shoppers are clued up on voucher code directories and price comparison sites, retailers know that they must be as competitive as possible. A few pence can mean the difference between a sale and a shopping cart abandoned. This has lead to sites like 247electrical.co.uk launching huge half price sales when normally these are reserved for what we all know as the “January Sales”.

It is refreshing to see a buyers market again in what has recently been a difficult time for consumers across the UK.
