Las Vegas Dry Cleaners Makes a Commitment to a Cleaner Environment

Dec. 2, 2010 - PRLog -- HOUSTON – Since 1970, Tiffany Couture Cleaners (Tiffany) of Las Vegas, NV has dedicated themselves to upholding a reputation for perfection.  The company recently took their commitment to excellence to a greener level by becoming members of the Green Business Bureau (GBB) where they have begun their green business certification process.

“Over the past few years we have been making a strong effort to become as green as possible,” says Dan Del Rossi, Tiffany’s Owner. “Until now, we’ve only had a self-assessment program.”

Even though Del Rossi downplays the company’s self-assessment, the list of green activities undertaken by Tiffany to-date is impressive.  The company uses biodegradable poly bags which are FDA compliant and will breakdown in the landfill in seven to 10 years.  

Tiffany also recycles hangers, bottles and plastics, and issues reusable garment bags to customers to cut down on waste.   Del Rossi points out that both of the current facilities on Sahara and Flamingo employ energy efficient lighting systems and reclaim wastewater when possible.

“As an industry, we don’t have the best image when it comes to being environmentally responsible,” says Del Rossi. “We would like to change that and make a difference in the world.”

Del Rossi was introduced to the GBB program through another certification organization, America’s Best CleanersTM.  America's Best Cleaners™ has devised and implements the toughest standards of quality in the dry-cleaning industry for certifying Couture Care Specialists.  The organization actively encourages its affiliates to employ sustainable practices and has created one of the most comprehensive ecological strategies and certifications for the dry-cleaning industry in partnership with GBB.

The GBB Eco-Industries Program for Dry Cleaners is a comprehensive, tailored green business certification for dry cleaners.  Encompassing regulatory guidelines and best practice industry criteria, the program is quickly becoming the standard for dry cleaners who want to offer their customers the confidence of green certified service.

“As a group, we are making changes,” says Del Rossi.  “We aim to make a difference not only in our industry, but throughout the world.  We want the public to recognize that we care.”
