Dec. 5, 2010 - PRLog -- PROGENEX Rides International Growth to Record Sales

Reformulated Products Drive Historic Reorder Rates – Since PROGENEX partnered with CrossFit a year ago as the lead sponsor of the 2010 CrossFit Games, the two companies have enjoyed a parallel path – upward, and at breakneck speeds. And while CrossFit just announced a reported 10 year, $150 million deal with Reebok, PROGENEX has continually shattered its sales records month after month.

PROGENEX had quickly established itself as the supplement of choice for elite athletes, giving them unparalleled ability to recover from the toughest of workouts. While revered by Olympians, NFL Pro Bowlers and MLB All-Stars, there was one drawback, according to PROGENEX co-founder Aaron Thomas, who said, “Aspartame was a big problem with our original formula. Customers would tell us, `I love your product, but why in the world do you have to use aspartame?’” Athletes want an antidote, not a poison. We knew we had to do something about it.”

PROGENEX took their customers’ advice, improved its formula, and sales skyrocketed – no small feat, considering that PROGENEX had already grown by over 10x in just one year. In August the company reformulated its products using a higher grade, faster absorbing protein, in addition to an improved flavoring system that scrapped the unwanted aspartame in favor of crystalline fructose, a natural fruit sugar that has become the leading sweetener for consumers seeking healthier alternatives. “Fake is out, natural is in,” explains PROGENEX co-founder and president Ryan Page., “People are becoming more aware of what they’re putting in their bodies these days. They want results, but they want results that last a lifetime.”

PROGENEX doesn’t cater to the casual gym-goer who buys their supplements in bulk from discount stores. PROGENEX caters to serious competitors who push their bodies to the extreme, and are much stricter about the quality of their supplements, according to SICFIT co-founder Web Smith. “Nutrition can be like religion to some people, and is so much more than just a way of life. When we see nutritional labels full of additives, preservatives, and non-saccharide sweeteners (aspartame), we tend to avoid them because they can be detrimental to health. We follow the ‘5 or less’ rule in terms of ingredients.” Web is no stranger to elite athletes, as he and his wife Lindsey have both finished in the top 10 at the CrossFit Games, and SICFIT’s entire charter is to promote elite athletes demonstrating amazing feats of athleticism through social media.

In 2011, PROGENEX will be passing the torch to Reebok as lead sponsor of the CrossFit Games. With the new Reebok-sponsored purse jumping up to a cool $1 million, the future of the sport is looking bright. And speaking of a bright future, PROGENEX certainly looks to be headed in that direction. Halfway through November the company has already shattered their previous monthly sales record. At a time of year where 20-30% revenue decreases are common within the sector, PROGENEX defiantly bucks the trend.

The company attributes its success to historic reorder rates and rapid international growth in countries like Spain, Ireland, England,Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Brazil, Canada, and Australia. It would appear that the improved, aspartame-free formulation has been the primary catalyst behind the company’s growth, along with unprecedented recovery for athletes. Apparently Web was right – less is more for PROGENEX.
