WHAT:   12:30–1:30: Networking lunch
           1:30–4:30: Workshop

WHERE: Danish Canadian Club
            727 – 11 Avenue SW, Calgary

WHY: The way we need to market our business is changing, whether we like it or not.

Do you have a new marketing plan?

We can’t turn on the TV or open an Internet page without being reminded that there is new technology enlisting excited buyers into its realm. New applications of smart phones, iPad, Kindle, and the list goes on, tells us that regardless if we embrace those platforms, they still exist.

What it means for businesses is, the age demographics of traditional technology (print newspapers, AM/FM radio, network television news) is significantly older – like grandparents older, and if we want to reach more people 50 and younger, we also need to change.

WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU?

WE ARE NOT OUR MARKET

That doesn’t mean we have to all run out and buy an iPhone or an iPad, but what it does mean is we need to BE where are target audience is hanging out.

However, it isn’t just about showing up and waiting for the iPhone to ring. You need to engage and you need a plan—NOW. The longer you wait, the more the world passes you by.

Here are some facts:

The ROI is easier to measure
It doesn’t cost as much as traditional marketing
  You control the message
You can reach way more people

Did you know today’s average gamer is 34 and that a quarter of the gamer population is over 50? (Variety.com) Generation Y workers spend an average of 10.6 hours a day accessing social networking sites, news websites, blogs, Internet forums, and multimedia sharing websites. (LexisNexis)

Two-thirds of the top news sites are either pure news aggregators (like Google and Yahoo news) or have a strong aggregation element (like MSNBC or AOL), and the most likely to use a news aggregation service at age 30-49 (57 percent), followed by 50 plus (45 percent). (Internet Search Engine Database)

HOW CAN I HELP?

I will show you how to stay relevant in today’s marketplace by teaching you low-cost to no-cost innovative ways to market your business. I’ll take away the fear and help you understand the process. I’ll help you plug into the new wave of social media and use it to your advantage, including combining it with traditional methods that let you keep your wallet in tact.

NOT KNOWING THIS NOW WILL IMPACT YOUR BUSINESS RELEVANCE IN THE FUTURE

Consider this: People who are 30 and younger were raised with
  Personal computers
  Video games
  Cable news
  Space exploration
Front wheel drive and fuel-injected vehicles
Star Wars, The Brat Pack (Demi Moore, Kevin Bacon…), MTV, HBO
Madonna, Michael Jackson, Queen, glam metal, punk, hair bands

If they are not in your target demographic now, the under 30s will soon be. Traditional methods will not reach them.

The type of business your in does not matter. How you connect your message does.
