The 2011 Sportage offers four-cylinder, 2.4-liter engine developed by Hyundai and shared with the Tucson. This engine is standard in the Sportage Base, LX, and EX and produces 172 horsepower and 166 pound-feet of torque.  AWD is available as an option.  9.5L/100km city and 6.3L/100km highway fuel efficiency.    

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety named 2011 Kia Sportage the Top Safety Pick, the highest possible rating in front, side, and rear crash tests.  It was also nominated for best Compact Utility Vehicle of the year by 10 highly respected journalists in Canada.  The category included vehicles such as the Audi Q5 and Mercedes GLK.
