The Best in Photography Among the many prestigious awards presented during the BIPP National Photographic Awards 2010 held in Blenheim Palace on 27 November were the Peter Grugeon Awards for best Qualification panels at Fellowship and Associateship levels. These long-standing Awards were founded in the name of the celebrated photographer, Peter Grugeon, most famous for his portraits of the Royal Family in the 1970s. The aim of the scheme is to celebrate and recognise the achievements of today’s photographers. The awards are divided into two qualification levels: Associateship which looks for an individual creative style and confidence; and Fellowship which is the highest professional standard. The winner of this year’s Best Fellowship Panel was Hamish Scott Brown MA FBIPP, a fine art photographer who divides his time between Scotland and Italy. Hamish said " It was not only a great honour but an absolute pleasure to join with my colleague, fellows and associate members of the BIPP at Blenheim Palace on Saturday 27th November. The standard of work exhibited for exhibition purposes was extremely high and I look forward now to a long and productive association with the BIPP." The Best Associateship Panel was awarded to the 2010 Photographer of the Year, Paul Coghlin ABIPP. Paul who is a fine art photographer working in Suffolk commented "I would like to thank the BIPP for providing their significant experience and professional guidance during the compilation of the images and for selecting my panel for this prestigious award". The separate award for the best Licentiateship Panel, which looks for a high level of professional competency, went to Helen Turton LBIPP. The British Institute of Professional Photography, founded in 1901, is at the forefront of the photographic profession, and is the official qualifying body for professional photographers in the UK supporting all disciplines For further information and to see the images from the Peter Grugeon winners, and the other BIPP awards and qualification panels please visit www.bipp.com.
