Celebrate holidays with your pets

1.   Overnight facilities for pets are known to be fully during the holiday season so we strongly advised to book places as soon as possible.
2.   Airports' holiday-rush: The high traffic in the airports creates tough conditions for pets especially pets that are shipped via cargo. Try to avoid cargo shipment during the "rush".
3.   Ground transportation is very difficult to find even when traveling without pets during the chaotic holiday season. But if you are traveling with pets, make sure to coordinate a shuttle that’s pet orientated (many bus/train/TAXI drivers are not prepared or are prohibited according to company policy to transport pets).
4.   Pets in cabin: Although many of you know airlines that allow you to fly with small pets in the passenger cabin, since there will be an unusual number of pets flying abroad, some airlines might change the policy or limit the number of pets that are allowed on each flight so it is important to make the flight reservation ASAP and to double check with the airline 24 hours prior to the flight that your pet is registered.
5.   Veterinary support is always available near your home but when you travel with pets precautions are in order. Dr. Eytan Kreiner, Head of the Veterinarian Division at Animal Airways: "before leaving for the journey, make sure to find a veterinary clinic – that is open for emergencies during the holidays – close by to where you'll be hosted."
6.   Preventive treatments & vaccinations: Even if you're planning to travel abroad with your pet for only several days, it is important to consult with a veterinarian in order to avoid diseases, infections and allergies.  
7.   Kenneling: If you're flying abroad with your pet make sure you chose a kennel that is "airline approved". A kennel is where your pet will spend the long flight and/or the long drive and or cruise. The kennel is a temporary home and it should be wide, comfortable and most importantly safe.  
8.   Pet food: During the holidays we allow ourselves to loosen up and treat our selves with drinks, non-diet dishes and desserts. Pets however are better off with their own nutritional food. Not only is it not recommendable to "spoil" them with holiday leftovers, it's highly recommended to bring their familiar food and hand them the same amount and at the same time schedule that you give them at home so they will keep up the routine and avoid digestion disorders.
