True Energy Solutions offers free energy audits through Green Jobs - Green NY (GJGNY)

Dec. 9, 2010 - PRLog -- “True Energy is excited to offer free or reduced cost Energy Audits through its partnership agreement, with NYSERDA, for the newly launched Green Jobs - Green NY program," says Damian Hodkinson of True Energy Solutions in East Rochester, NY. "We believe this is the best time in years for homeowners to save money on energy by taking advantage of the unprecedented incentives from New York State."

Free energy audits by True Energy Solutions are available for homeowners with household incomes less than $133,200. Household incomes from $133,200, up to $266,400 are eligible for reduced cost audits with a maximum cost of $250.

The cost to a homeowner of having a detailed, comprehensive and scientific energy audit has long been an obstacle to lowering utility costs, identifying health & safety concerns, and making homes more comfortable. "Along with True Energy Solutions' diagnostic approach, this new program really breaks down those barriers, finally giving many homeowners the chance to truly save money and live more comfortably," says Damian Hodkinson.

Homeowners are often confused about what an energy audit entails, Damian Hodkinson explains, "we feel the energy audit is one of the most important steps for a homeowner; through our audit process we use diagnostic tests of the heating and hot water systems, thermal infrared scans, air flow and infiltration tests, and thorough investigation to diagnose the energy loss and use in a house. This process allows our homeowners to make energy efficiency upgrade decisions based on factual, honest and verifiable information."

Also part of the GJGNY program is a newly available loan up to $13,000 with an interest rate of 3.49% if payments are made by direct bank withdrawal and 3.99% for payment by check. Further, this loan can be combined with the 10% rebate incentive (up to $30,000 project cost) offered through the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Program.
GJGNY was signed into law by Governor Patterson on October 3, 2009. It tasked NYSERDA with creating a new program that would benefit homeowners wishing to save money on energy costs, but who might not have the financial resources to pay upfront for the upgrades. The program is funded from the NYS allocation of the RGGI (Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative) Fund in the amount of $112 million dollars for use over the next 5 years. There are limited funds allocated for the free and reduced cost energy audits, which will be provided on a first come, first served basis.
