Should you work hard to keep your work and personal life separate? It all depends on your work situation. If you have a regular 9 to 5 job, then it is best to keep your work and home life separate, because you get paid by the hour. But, if you work from home, or as a consultant than it is best not to separate your work and personal life separate.

For those of us lucky enough to work out of our houses, it is usually not best to separate work from home life too much. If you feel like working on a report at night or on the weekend then do it. Take advantage of the times you feel like working. By that same measure if it is 10am on a Monday morning and you are sitting by your desk and don't feel like working, then get up and do something else. In an ideal world there would just be one life, not a work life, and a home or personal life. Everything would mix together and you would work when you felt most productive, and have the ability to do other things when you don't feel like working.
